How you will contribute to LifeNet Health’s success:
The Sr. Facilities Plant Technician is a skilled position in the operation, maintenance, and servicing of boilers, feed water systems, steam hot water systems, pump delivery systems sterilizers and all related auxiliary equipment. Your duties will include (but are not limited to) daily operation, maintenance, repair and inspection of Central Plant Systems (CPS) including steam boilers and piping, compressed air and vacuum systems, gas piping and plumbing systems as well as associated building equipment. You will record of all systems information data as required; as well as provide oversight of Steam Sterilizer equipment, systems and contracted Vendors. You will also assists with general building maintenance and repairs at all facility locations. All you work will be performed according to established operating and safety procedures.
Important: You will be required to sit, stand, bend, walk and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. for the duration of the shift.
This role is critical to the LifeNet Health mission because it is responsible for ensuring that our Virginia Beach facilities meet the needs of the organization which allows our lifesaving and health restoring allografts to be properly and timely distributed to our patients around the globe.
What you’ll do:
- Maintains boilers and CPS systems for the purpose of ensuring that equipment is operating to required specifications and safely which includes performing preventive maintenance on all CPS including boilers, hot water heaters, feed water systems, pumps, air compressors and associated building equipment.
- Diagnoses problems and/or failures in plumbing and heating and cooling systems, which includes skilled pipe and steam fitting duties. Responsible for repairs, adjustments, maintenance and installation of these systems. Facilitates work orders with Service Vendors to ensure systems operate as designed, when needed.
- Manages and oversees Steam Sterilizer vendor for repairs, maintenance, and operation of equipment.
- Correctly identifies, troubleshoots, and makes accurate and necessary repairs/adjustments within the facilities mechanical systems.
- Performs maintenance and repair of up to 5 lbs. gas piping systems and associated equipment.
- Performs backflow testing and repair of all DFU (Drainage Fixture Unit) devices at all locations.
What you’ll bring (Minimum Requirements):
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current Virginia backflow certification (or must be acquired within 12-months of employment)
- Valid Driver’s License and the ability to meet LifeNet Health’s minimum requirements for driving a company vehicle
- Five (5) years’ experience working with boilers, steam pipe systems, and related equipment.
- Five (5) years’ experience in Pipefitting and/or Plumbing Installation, Maintenance or Repair to include copper, PVC, and cast iron
- Current Virginia Plumbing License or currently in process and obtained within 12-months of employment
Preferred Experience/Skills/Certifications:
- Three (3) years’ experience with air compressors, regulators and associated equipment preferred
- Five (5) years’ experience with vacuum, CO2 and compressed gas piping systems preferred
These would be nice too (Knowledge Skills and Abilities):
- Ability to read and understand controls/wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Able to perform job functions with little to no supervision
- Clear understanding of OSHA and safety rules/regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively to team members, management, LifeNet Health staff, and outside vendors
- Welding: Experience in the use of torches, soldering, brazing and welding

SALARY: $27.10 - $36.14/hourly
The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location and the candidate’s qualifications and prior relevant experience. The pay range for this position is $27.10 hourly (entry- level qualifications) to $36.14 hourly(experienced in this role). * Actual compensation may be higher based on the successful candidate's knowledge and relevant experience.
This position is eligible for an annual bonus once eligibility criteria are met.
